Front wheel bearing seal?

The mechanic that is changing the wheel bearing said i need to buy the seal for it cause the original one is messed up i have the wheel bearing but not the seal where can i buy that cause i have already tried some auto part stores and didnt carry them. autozone had it but they said it was 40 dollars and i dont think thats right, here is a picture of the wheel bearing i bought do i even need a seal http://autozone.com/R,APP314113/vehicleId,2353802/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,3143/partType,00168/shopping/partProductDetail.htm

What kind of vehicle? Some have separate seals, some are seealed units

Yes, the wheel bearing seal is basically a plastic top that goes over the hole that the bearing goes into, the parts store probably doesnt carry it and that $40 is the price of the bearing... You have to get the seal from the dealer if it didn't come with the bearing (which it should have).
when changing the wheel bearing, you should always change the seals as well... they are important to ensure you get a good seal once you put everything back together... try napa or if your car is in a shop, they should be able to get them for you
