Is there any difference between "wheel bearing" & "wheel bearing assembly" for cars?

Or are they just the same thing? Also, as a secondary question, is it relatively difficult to change wheel bearings in front wheel drive Ford Focus?

Wheel Bearings, Wheel Bearing Assemblies, Wheel Hubs, Hub Assemblies, and Wheel Hub Bearings Assemblies all pretty much do the same thing. They are the bearings, or contain the bearings that your wheels ride on. If it has the word hub or assembly in it, than it is usually an entire hub assembly, or a bearing pressed inside a metal hub that is more easier to replace. I believe that the Ford Focus has a wheel bearing (not the hub) therefore you will probably need a hydraulic press to install the front wheel bearing. Try going to http://mibearings.com and asking about installation and wheel bearing/hub type.

same thing.no,it should b a really simple job to change the front wheel bearings.
your Focus uses a bearing assembly, which is the bearing in a sealed hub. there is no maintenance required, and since it's sealed, it should last forever.. yeah right!

Some assemblies have bearings that needs to be pressed out, in your case, just buy the assembly and bolt it on. Much easier and no grease mess and no worry about packing.
autozone.com has online repair manuals and step by step instructions and diagrams and they are kind of easy after you have them pressed
