What are symptoms your wheel bearing assembly needs to be changed?

True sooperlu. I'd say more of a whine than a growl. But OK. Then you want to know for sure which one.

Jack it up and rattle the tire from side to side. Got play that shouldn't be there? Does wheel turn smoothly like it's on greased bearings or gravely bearings? You can feel it.
What are symptoms your wheel bearing assembly needs to be changed?
Growling noise at highway speeds in particular, that gets louder and quieter as you steer gently left and right. Noise stays consistent when you put the clutch in (Manual) or put it in neutral (auto).
