Changing a rear wheel bearing on a Mark 1 Ford Focus?

Was just wondering if anyone knew a step by step guide (preferably with pictures) for changing a rear wheel bearing on a T reg Focus?

It%26#039;s got disks on the rear. Thanks.|||Most rear wheel bearings are similar to do on most cars.Remove the road wheel after jacking up and blocking the car for safety.Remove the brake disc( if it,s separate from the hub where the bearing is) and the brake calliper.Don%26#039;t disconnect the brake pipes.Support the brake calliper don%26#039;t let it hang.Remove the grease cap on the hub and remove the split pin that is locking the nut holding the hub on or straighten the locking tab.Undo the nut and remove the flat washer behind the nut then pull, lever or tap the hub containing the bearing off from the stub axle.Remove the hub.The front bearing will come out in your hand as will the rear bearing once you remove the grease seal from the other end of the hub leaving the bearing tracks in the hub.To get these tracks out you need to drift them out with a chisel tapping from side to side evenly. To fit the new bearings you need to fit the tracks first and to do this you can start by using the old tracks as a drift until started, then use a brass drift or something similar to finally tap the track against the stop.Grease the inner bearings well and fit them into the tracks and then fit the grease seal.Refit the hub.Refit the washer and tighten the nut--i have given you advice for a tapered bearing and for this type of bearing the lock nut must not be overtightened but only tightened moderately to line everything up then backed off till free and then only nipped up slightly say 1/4 turn.If it,s a parallel bearing which i doubt the nut must be done up tightly|||I would take it to a garage if you are unsure of what you are doing.|||To be honest with you and I know there will be other people out there that will probably give me stick for saying it but I would advice you get a Haynes manual for the car.

This will show you step by step how to do the job along with just about everything you need to know about your car.

Ja.|||I thought you said it was an old one car, I suppose for a Focus is.

If you are fairly handy with a set of spanners, just get on with it. Do it indoors, because you will almost certainly need a tool that you haven%26#039;t got.

I have NEVER found that a Haynes manual any good, the work in ideal conditions, you will not be.|||You have three useless answers all ready, from complete idiots ,so here is another , just leave it,it should sort it self out in time .|||jason is right on getting a haynes book on your car at auto zone. it will show you pictures and also tell you what to do. that way anytime you need to work on your car you will have the book to go by.
